Computer Restarts When Coming out of Standby?

Hey,

Sometimes when I bring my computer out of standby it tends to restart itself, When it reboots it says that it has recovered from a serious error?

I looked into it and it says these are the files to blame

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER401a.dir00\Mini072106-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER401a.dir00\sysdata.xml

Whats the problem?

Would buying a bay cooler help?

Thanks

Its 100% related to windows system files, almost definately. Oh and those two files you quoted, they mean nothing, they are report files and ump files tht the system creates when it suffers an error.

I suggest you click START - RUN - type "cmd" - hit ENTER - type "sfc /scannow" - put in your windows disc when prompted and let it run.

This checks
all your windows system files with the original versions and replaces them if they are wrong/corrupt

have fun, dragon

Oh right, awesome, Will doing sfc /scannow delete or move any of my other files and how long will it take? Thanks for the help!

it should take about 10-15 mins if your not running anything else, and no it doesnt touch anything apart from your windows system files. It is to be trusted aswell, it doesnt make mistakes, its an official microsoft tool, its very good.

All it does is scan you system files and repair them if it feels the need, it does NOT touch documents, files, programs, apps, utilities, anything other then system files.

Thats great, Thanks! I tried it and let it run for about 2 mins (then canceled it) and it didn't ask me for my Windows Disc...

How do you know all this stuff?
Hey, maybe you could help me out with another problem?

Lol, glad you think grapejuice is funny, he was lets say.... intellectually challenged...

How do i know all of this stuff.... well, mainly cos i have no life and spend far too long on PCs, secondly because i fix a hell of a lot of PCs for frineds, family, people i dont know, and you have to know things like that. Besudes, its not all knowledge, most of it is just the same basic principles being applied to different situations.

Sure, ill take a look at your other thread, heading over there now

Oh yeh, and it wont ask you for your windows disc unless it needs it, so if it doesnt find a problem you wont need it at all, but when it finds something it wants to fix it will prompt you for your windows disc. Sorry, should have said that earlier
