The best method for system to system would be 1394 firewire over usb there. That would provide a better networking process between the two systems as well as a faster data tranfer bus.

Besides the netlink cable a software package would be needed to make that method work. For easy transfers between notebooks and desktops look at the product here. http://www.usbgear.com/link/usb_link_cable.html

On networking between two pcs one article sums that up pretty well at http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/g/bldef_firewire.htm Most of the time you will see devices accessed remotely via usb networking. The page on usb networking there is seen at http://compnetworking.about.com/od/usbnetworking/USB_Universal_Serial_Bus.htm

Radio Shack may or may not carry some items in a local store while may be seen on their own web site. That would be a first look there since they often carry various types of cables. A good online search usually ends up seeing far better prices on items then rushing into a retail chain however. In fact for something like Antec Round ide cables generally seen for upwards from $9.99 to $17.95 one search turned up a sale for $2.84! The shipping costs added to that ended up equally the 2005 $9.99 price.
