Is this true?

Counter strike 1.6 is free:confused:

I thought you had to buy this game? as you can see its from Softpedia.com

they should rename it to Steam installer like you said then.

Also it says on the page.....

Steam 1.0 client INCLUDING counter strike 1.6

Is that missleading or what lol.

yeah 1.6 is definatly not free, but 1.5 is. You just can't play online.

anyways Counter-Strike: Source > 1.6

ahh thanks...i didnt know about that 1.5
Im downloadingit right now.....i wanted to try some counter strike before i purchase it but obviusly there isnt a demo for CS:S so i couldnt.

i know that 1.5 probably wont be as good as CS:C but still it would give me a feel to what the games like.

EDIT:1.5 does not work...it must need Hl2 to run :(

It seems alot of people have this error...but some also say they dont get the error.....anyone know why its doing this?

It must have something to do with Half life:confused:
 
yeah counter strike 1.5 is a mod for the original half life, so you need the first half life to play it. There was a stand alone version of 1.5 but it was only sold in stores on physical cds.

oh well looks like il just have to get CS:S...im in need of some more games:)
