CPU change? SSD added? What to do w/ spare laptop

So a few weeks ago I picked up a Gateway NV79 laptop for $80 :D! Killer steal in my opinion, was going to go to my GF but she said no so now I have 2 laptops lol. So the specs are something like this:
Intel graphics (idk what ones...w/e is on chipset),
Intel i3 330M,
500gb HDD,
8GB ram and
LA-5881P MOBO...

Now the question is can I replace the CPU (most likely not I know :/) and it has two HDD bays, will a 60-120GB SSD really help it become as good as a main laptop?...I plan on using it as a spare one that watches movies, facebooks and tests downloads...perhaps it'll hold data like worksheets and stuff for school too :)...It isn't going to be moving much, if at all because the battery is crapped out :/

Or if anyone has any clever ideas of what to do with this spare laptop cuz I don't care about it much :P! @ School I have it hooked up next to my main laptop and synergized so that my mouse works on it and it's like a 3rd monitor then. what're your clever ideas?

Thanks

It would be clever of you to sell it to me as-is for $90 plus shipping, that way you turn it for a profit.

However, adding an SSD will help speed it up.

I know for certain that this laptop will sell for $200+ in my area (declined an offer of $150 just because)...I actually was going to use it for a "TV" (movie player) in my dorm room so I planned on keeping it mostly...I cannot upgrade my current laptop (Main one) anymore than I already have and I'm not short on money so idk :/...I am too attached to things for some reason lol...Unless you can give me a good reason to sell it to improve my computing experiences?

SSD would give you the best benefit but if you are not really going to be using it all that often it would be kind of a waste IMO.

Well I reboot this thing a lot because I don't like leaving my devices on a lot...I may even remove the HD all together and just use an external (All that would be on the HD would be OS and some basic programs: Core temp, CPUID and microsoft office...if I can pick up a used SSD for about $80 that has 120gb would this be plausible? I'm not worried about losing money here because I know I can sell this laptop for at LEAST twice as much as I bought it for :P

Good news! :) My buddy had a "broken" 64GB SSD that he called in and got a new one for free. He just handed me the SSD and I did some tests with SpeedFan and I used it for a bit and it works fine :P. I'm going to try to put the OS on it within the next week and see how I like it! :) (I need to find a way to put the OS on the SSD and keep it on the original drive still just to be safe) Hopefully he doesn't want it back ;D should be coolio! same with me i just cant let go on random computer s*** i own i just keep it in thousands of boxes !!

about the question i am not sure if you can upgrade the CPU because it may be soldered to the motherboard and is probabally not worth the effort

@turbodiesel, I KNOW! IT HARD LOL...gf just keeps making fun of me cuz I have a nexus 7, 2 iPod Touchers 4th gen, a dual monitor desktop, dual monitored my main laptop with a small 17' monitor, that spare laptop which I hook to me 65' TV and I've traded up my headphones like 4 times now and settled on AudioTechnica M50'

Back to my Q lol. I had opened the laptop almost all the way (it needs to be dismantled 100% to take off the heatsinc) and I chickened put just before I got there. I was doing it to put more ythermal paste on the processor but I couldn't get the darn heatsinc out :( I may have removed the bond from the old paste =( now Im home for the summer and might redo it more carefully and put some on...if I get that far I may leave it open and buy a processor quick if its not soldered
