CPU is too HOT, new heatasink?

I just bought an intel core 2 duo processor and it is running to hot. It is idleind at about 52c, and can get over 60c if i am running a lot of programs. I alredy have three case fans in there, so i think all i can do now is udgrade from the manufacturers heatsink. Any suggestions? What is a good heatsink to get?

How much are you willing to spend? Good choices are:
Zalman CNPS9500
Zalman CNPS9700
Thermaltake Big Typhoon
etc..
 
Did you use thermal paste?

Also, the LGA775 heatsink can be a bit of a pain, at first when I setup mine, the 4 push pins werent completely in place so idle temp was around 50c, so make sure all 4 are securely fastened, and that the HSF is secure.
 
I've never installed a C2D heatsync, but I'm on the same boat as Omega(I think :P) They wouldn't give you a heatsync that cooled the processor that poorly. I suspect it's not down all the way or something. Someone also mentioned thermal paste... Do the C2D's come with a thermal pad? Either way, you could convert over to paste and that would help.

They do come with one, but unlike the other sockets, LGA775 uses 4 push pins that you need to snap into the motherboard, and then turn a certain direction to lock it. It's very easily not to turn the pin completely, which could cause it to come loose and would cause it to not contact the CPU completely.

We used artic silver thermal paste when we put it on so that should be good.

Maybe i will re-attach the heat sink and make sure it is on correctly.

If that doesnt work i will try a new heat sink, it dosent make sense to me that the stock heat sink would be that bad.
