CPU upgrade

I have a celeron 2.2. CS: source runs at an average of 12 fps. All games just don't run well on it. So, what I want to do is upgrade it just enough to really play games like it should, but not so much that I have to upgrade power supply, which would mean a new case since I have an HP ~. So, could I, on a 200W power supply that's running an ATI 9250, upgrade to a P4 2.6 GHZ processsor, or should I just sell this and get something with a little better processor? I plan on getting a good gaming system later, but I don't have the money for one just yet. Tell me what you think, I have a trigem glendale motherboard.

For what your looking to do, i would save the money until you can refurb your whole computer.;) It's not just the processor that's stopping you playing CS:S properley, it's that gpu you have as well. So wait until you have enough money, it'll pay off in the long run.:)

yea ...

number 1 i recommend that u neva by a prebuilt computer like dell computers again in ur life. unless its a super super good deal, which in 99.9% of the case there not.

number 2 even if u do get a P4, they won't serve u too well, there getting pretty out dated for an upgrade. Now days u want some kinda duel core. which would mean a mobo upgrade. ur ATI 9250 won't do much to help either.

number 3 like 'nffc10' said its not just the CPU thats slowing u down, its prob the whole bundle but mainly ur CPU and FX card.

I would recommend u save up for a system. instead of wasteing money on a P4 that won't do much unless ur gona upgrade ur FX card and mobo. and with all the cost in mind it'll prob end up the same as buying a new computer, i sagest u save some and sell ur computer for as much as u can get for it. Then build a new computer. If u donno how then. Ask questions in forums like this one.plenty ppl to help u here.
