Anyone been having issues with Creative drivers lately?

Ive tried older drivers....the latest windows 7 Beta drivers and still theres problems with my card.....audio is all messed up,i couldnt hear gun shots in cod 5...then i re-installed windows today fresh as it needed it anyway... and installed the beta drivers again and now i cant hear anything at all

Its doing my head in!...ive been through all the creative control panel settings and tried diffrent settings with no luck.

Speaker setup Logitech X-540....sound card is Creative X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity 7.1 (Pci)

cheers for any feedback.

I don't know if this will help, but I searched online a bit and ended up on the newegg website for this sound card. By reading the user reviews, a lot of people are very unhappy with this card and say it is not good for games. Many have sound problems when playing games. They said it is not an X-Fi card although it is advertised as one and that you can't use X-Fi options in any games. Another user said that the equalizer does not work in Vista, but is okay in XP.

Someone else said that the front audio does not work correctly and it uses different drivers than the X-Fi cards.

Another user said it worked fine for him using the 1.40.90 drivers from the Creative website.

Anyway, I don't know much about sound cards or games, but maybe reading the problems others have had might help you in trying to find a solution or narrowing down the root of the problem.

hey thanks for your reply,

Whoever said the card isnt very good for gaming is wrong! Its a fantastic card for the price and did sound great for my logitech setup....they must have had crap speakers or something.

They are right in saying it is not an X-Fi card although it is advertised as one...because it isnt a true X-FI...from what ive read it does its X-FI through software.

I was realy realy happy with this card when i got it around last year, but they have started releasing very dodgy drivers lately!

ive found my origional drivers disk that came with the card...and installed them and now im having no problems! :D
Creative needs to sort out whoevers developing those drivers

i was looking at at this card....but now my creative is okay il stick with that.

would that have been any good?

I'd say look up some drivers that match your O/S, try that one more time, if that doesn't work, try disabling the sound card in device manager, and using the mobo's default sound. This will help you troubleshoot if it's the card, drivers, or windows. Windows 7 is nice and all, but some drivers don't work for it, that might be your problem.

hope this help....i reformatted my computer and as of 6 months ago every computer that i reformat with my disk looses the sound card driver, it said that no audio device found...to fix this i go to device manager and you'll notice that there is a big yellow question mark or exclamation mark by it...i simply disable/delete it all together, then when u restart the computer it will recognize that the sound device is there now and automatically find the correct driver! this saved me A LOT of head ache and research. good luck
