Found it on the internet before, basically, you get the DX10 features, like light beams, better textures, 3D waves, more realistic water, pretty much a generally better looking game!

Essentially, what the tweak does is allow DX9 users to use the "Very High" settings that are exclusively reserved for DX10 users.

Here's how to do it:

Go to: "\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config\CVarGroups"

You'll find a load of files, copy them some-where (make a back-up).
Double click one of them, you'll be asked to either go to the internet or select a program from the list, select the list and select notepad.

Now, every time you double click on one of the files, it'll open with notepad.

You'll then need to edit each file, taking the first block of text and swapping it out with the text with the third option. In the example (sys_spec_Particles.cfg)below, take the text at the bottom (in italics) and replace it with the text at the top (in bold).

[default]
; default of this CVarGroup
= 4
e_particles_quality=4
e_particles_lod=1
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=32
r_UseSoftParticles=1
e_water_ocean_soft_particles= 1
e_particles_object_collisions=1

[1]
e_particles_quality=1
e_particles_lod=0.75
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=4
r_UseSoftParticles=0
e_water_ocean_soft_particles=0
e_particles_object_collisions=0

[2]
e_particles_quality=2
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=8

[3]
e_particles_quality=3
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=16

Just do that to every file and that's it, you're basically swapping the unusable DX10 settings "Very High" with the "High" settings, it'll say High in the option but it's actually "Very High".

Hope this helps some of you out :)

Thats funny. I wonder if it will be that easy with all the DX10 games. If so, I am never getting Vista!!!!!!

It cant run exactly the same as DX10 because of the hardware itself, however in games such as this I doubt you will notice much of a difference between the two. Great job!

What should I upgrade in my system? Like another gig of Ram to max it out, like you.

Thanks.
First, he has a 7950GT while you have a 7900GS, he also has his C2D running at 2.5Ghz while yours is at 1.8. Upgrading to 2GB of RAM will help, but you wont be able to run it as well as him.

its definetely worth buying an 8800, that will help loads, also can you overclock your processor? that will also help alot

Another 1GB wouldn't go a miss! :P also, see if you can OC your CPU.

I tried the extra ending to the level, didn't really work out, had to re-install :(
