Hi Everyone,

I am 5 hours into this game and I can not beat the second boss on the bridge... I am at level 17 and I have bought new armor... I feel like ive been stuck here longer then most people...

Its funny this guy has the same layout as me but this still isnt working for me!

There are a few ways to beat him.

First, as soon as you walk on the rooftop, (as the video shows) climb that tower and kill the archers. After that and the jump attack just learn his attacks and run under his legs.

The other option is to load up on firebombs. They do good damage to him. You should be able to stay away from him and throw them after he attacks and regroups. You can buy them from the merchant earlier in the level and/or farm them off the zombie guys in the level.

Also get a 100% damage blocking shield.

Thanks! That worked!!! actually it was easy... I got across the bridge and kicked the ladder down... Now im stuck on the next level... I keep getting poisened! and my axe does no damage anymore... I need to get it repaired

How far along are you?

I'm about 35 or 40 hours in to it.

You are at the point now where you can get the drake sword. That should be your next thing. Load up on arrows. Maybe 50 or so of the cheap ones. Just buy 100 to be safe, and go to the bridge where the red dragon is sitting. Get under the bridge and close to where you are getting poisoned by the rats (I'm assuming they are what's getting you).

Look for the dragons tail. Take aim with a bow (you can get a bow from the merchant) and start shooting towards the bottom of the tail. After enough hits you'll be rewarded with the drake sword. It's the best lower level weapon in the game and will last you many levels. It will kill a lot of the guys in the burg with one hit.

Also use the bow to kill those damn rats. Draw them out with it one at a time and use the drake sword if they get close. It's a bad idea to rush in on them until you learn their attacks.

ah masterfulks! thats a great Idea... I will try that tonight... how many souls will I need to buy the arrows? I think I Have 2000 at the moment
 
and I cant believe your 40 hours in... how long is the game?

Ive never played demon souls... this is all new to me
 
I take my time with these kinds of games. I've heard you can spend 60 to 80 hours on your first playthrough. I'm sure you can do it faster if you don't die as much. Looking at the number of worlds I figure I'll probably be around the 60 to 65 hour mark.

The cheap arrows are 3 souls each. You can carry 999 of them, so just short of 2997 souls and you're loaded up. There are more expensive arrows, but I use the cheap ones to draw out enemies and kill dragons. So they work. Once you get along in the game 3000 souls is nothing. So keeping your arrows topped is easy.
 
Im 8 hours in and I still cant beat the level after the dragon...

Thanks for the help shooting the dragons tail! It hooked me up with a nice sword...

Is it normal that my armor situation is so bad? And how often do you need to spend money to get your armor repaired?
 
Your armor will stink for awhile. I just repair it as needed. Usually before heading off in a new area I'll make sure I'm stocked up on arrows and have everything repaired.

I think for your first playthrough, keep leveling up your stamina. With a 100% blocking shield stamina is sort of a 2nd lifebar. Don't bother beefing up str or dex beyond what it takes to wield whatever weapon you are using.

Get yourself a spear and reinforce it. Using a spear, or rapier, allows you to attack while keeping your shield up. So you will get hit much much less. The game is hardest in the beginning. Pretty soon you'll be going through areas with relative ease.
 
I can't kill a single skeleton warrior after defeating the first boss.. I get close to killing a skeleton, and then a second one comes to slash me to death. You're better off than I am right now haha

Even the little crappy enemies will kill you in this game if you let them group up on you.

Usually there is room to pull them backwards. Get a bow asap from the first merchant and stock up on the cheap arrows.

You can usually just walk towards an enemy and when one starts walking towards you, you just back up to a safe spot to fight it without pulling the others.

A little tip to help you guys out later. Get the light spell before you attempt the tomb of the giants. I just did it without, and it was frustrating for awhile. You'll get a lantern, but you have to give up your shield to hold it. That area is dark as hell.

I still think if you're having trouble get a spear and beef it up a little. You can block and attack at the same time, and that is great.
 
haha i almost threw my ps3 last night.... I can not finish the 4th level... I cant even block these black knight attacks without losing a ton of life... This game is really awesome though

have you beat if masterfulk?
 
I'm down to the last few areas. The black knights are best fought by getting backstabs. Facing them head on at low level is a bad idea. Circle behind to get the backstab, then repeat when they get up. I was proud when I killed the first black knight upon my first encounter with him.

The second black knight tore me up for awhile till I just bypassed him. A few levels later I came back and beat him down and took his shield.
 
damn masterfulks... I am still stuck on the level when you first see the gerbals that have poisen.... I think I am proaching this game wrong... should I just spend 2 hours killing people from levels prior and power up? and what should I power up?

Leveling up always helps, but you shouldn't have to grind all that much.

I suggest you look up some youtube videos. They helped me in a few spots when I wasn't sure where to go.

That guy has videos for large portion of the game. Including real time play of the levels. Watch what he does and give it a shot.

My general tactic is to attempt to draw out enemies one at a time if I'm getting overrun. If you are still stuck on the rats that might be the problem. Get a bow and draw them out. You also need a 100% damage blocking shield. The drake sword will last you a good while. It can help to supplement it with a spear because you can stab and block at the same time.

I found that this game gets a lot easier the further you go as your equipment will get filled out and you'll have more choices as to how to tackle stuff. Give that youtube link a try and see how it goes.

There is nothing in this game that you can't beat if you take your time.

I cant find the 100 percent blocking shield!! where is that located? do I have to wait to the next level to purchase it?

dude im getting so pissed OFF. I just lost 10 k souls and this giant gerbel keeps killing me!

when I google the name of the walkthrough... its nothing like where I am right now... I think im better off taking a screen shot
 
hey! i got passed that part finally... I got to the second major boss in the game..

on that video... the kid goes down the elevator.. I myself killed everyone to face the boss upstairs but hes kicking me around... I watched the videos online on how to fight him but im still dieing in 1-2 hits and my shield isnt 100 percent... I lose a lot of stamina off each hit... maybe I will take the elevator until I become more powerful
