Dell Bios help

So I did some updates on my xps 15 L521X with windows 7 64bit because some things were not working correctly. The only thing that came up was the BIOS update so I did it. After flashing the bios my laptop blue screens during the windows loading screen. Safe mode fails, recovery fails, restore points fail.

Called Dell, no help. They just told me I have to do a PC restore. I would rather hold this off to the bitter end or least until I figure out a way to get my files off.

I would greatly appreciate some help of how to restore or reflash the BIOS, or a way to get my files off using a usb bootloaded command prompt

Most likely all that is needed is to change your sata controller setting from IDE to AHCI or vice versa. When you update the bios it sets everything back to defaults. Also, you aren't running raid correct?

I'd also check this first. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes the BIOS gets set back to defaults. Check the SATA operation and see if that does it.

Wow all i did was switch to AHCI and that worked. And Dell wanted me to wipe my computer

The consumer tech support for Dell sucks. That's another reason to buy a business grade machine - you talk to way better techs.
