DirectX help

My current computer is around 7-8 years old and its this crappy thing my dad bought from Best Buy (MDG). But i can play older games (90's) and they work fine. A buddy lent me Thief Gold. I put the instal disc in and it said this:

This product could not be installed on windows NT due to a Microsoft DirectX(tm) limitation.

I'd really like to play this game. But as of now i can't. T_T
The only other ames I've played on this computer are Age of Empires 2 (expansion) and Diablo 2. They work well with only a bit of lag every so offten. I don't know the specs of the computer so don't ask me.

I believe Windows NT had a DirectX v3 as a maximum and your game requires Directx v6, so no go.
 
The biggest limitation is Windows NT, it will not support DirectXv6 so it won't install. Upgrading to XP would allow you to run the game but yes, your computer has seen better days.
