dumb question of the day

i have never been a pc gamer, but i have a pc (and soon to be installed gpu) that can now run the latest pc games.

my question is what is needed/recommended to play these games besides a 3 button wheel mouse and a keyboard?

i see people using 360 controller sensors, or gaming mouse or even these highend keyboards.

is there anythin i must have...or is it all just user preference based on the game.

thinking about getting star wars the old republic and also witcher 2

My personal opinion is, people need a 360 controller. This is useful not only for racing games (beleive me racing with kb/m is a ballache) but its useful for everyother game too.

I currently use it for ms flight sim until i can buy a new hotas.

Dont get me wrong its no substitute for a kb/m set up for fps shooting, but its nice to relax with a controller on occasion.

I would say out of all the peripherals you can buy none will serve you better than a decent controller. For me its the 360 one as imo its more accurate than a ps3 controller. (This is unless your going to spend $300 on racing wheels, Hotas' and w/e else you can buy for games these days :P)

i have all 3 next gen consoles. my buddy told me to buy a sensor to use the 360 wireless controller. i thought it would kind of defeat the purpose because i always assumed the kb/m was the way to go

thanks for the replies

Dont get me wrong kb/m is, but for some games racing etc you cant beat a controller.

I am currently using my controller for ms flight sim until i get a decent hotas and it works a treat, much better than the logic3 joystick i bought (absolute junk, stay away from that company- 5 minutes of use and it was broke)
