I have a Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-5000 drive and i want to watch dvds on my computer, but win media player says I need a DVD decoder. What the heck is a DVD decoder, and where do I get one?

Well if you have an older video card such as a voodoo sometimes they would require a special cable inside the computer to run from the card to the drive (i think) or from card to mobo, something like that. If you're not sure of your GFx card try using PowerDVD or WinDVD see if it gives the same error. If so then that means you DO need a special cable, ask someone else here that remebers the good 'ole days.
