Easy way to know if ur being hacked?

Hi, is there a way to know if someone is hacking your computer? Im asking cuz i have some doubt about a person i had trouble with some time ago.

Well...any information would help. ty
 
The best type of tool to prevent and even detect hacking would be having a good working firewall inplace. But even some of the best sold are still vulnerable depending on "who" is doing "what"? This is a problem professionals have to contend with as well as the more vulnerable "average user". :(
 
get a router that supports NAT, then the hacker would have to seriously track you down. Unless its a personal thing they wouldn't be able to find you. NAT does not allow remote hosts to connect.
 
its a problem that i really think about all of the time. touch wood there's nothing on my computer bar itunes but still if they wiped that i'd be finished.

The one thing that can be traced is the IP address. But that simply allows room for spam not specific hacks onto a system or site. A good deal of the new spam going around has remote tracking to see if an account is active. By opening one up the spammer then knows a valid account is active where more is sent. A trojan of some type on the hard drive would be one way of sending info out from your system.

There is one better tool called House Call mentioned in one of the stickys. That requires you install Trend Micro's PC-cillin. It has several removers as well as a builtin firewall. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
