external graphics card question

So I was looking at these external graphics card thingies for laptops, but I noticed that they all have this express card connector at the end, and not many laptops have that. You can buy an express card to usb adapter, and my question is would it slow down the whole thing, is usb worse than express card in terms of data transfer bandwidth? So basically, would it work as good on a usb as it would on express card? (not saying I will buy anything like that but I'm just asking from pure curiosity)
 
They are quite useless in most cases. USB is slower unless you use usb3, and then only theoretically does it equal the rate. Expresscard has a transfer rate of 5Gb/s just for your info.
 
It can be useful if all you need is some extra monitors for a bigger desktop, but USB is no good if you want to game or do anything that taxes the graphics hardware.

If I got you right, the answer is yes, USB is way worse than an express card and no, it wouldn't work nearly as good; it won't do for games regardless of what card you stick there. The interconnection does matter, you could have the most powerful card there but if it's got USB inbetween, it won't do much good.
