FEAR pc problems

I just bought FEAR and I am trying to get into a multiplayer game but when I search for servers all it says is ERROR with no explanation. I've got v1.08 and all the settings seem right. I'm on Vista but I've heard others say FEAR runs great on Vista...

Anybody else get this ERROR message?
 
if it saying ERROR with no explanation..have you tried re-installing?

made sure a firewall isnt preventing it from connecting?
 
I'm in the middle of playing FEAR at the moment. All I can say is.. oh my dear god, I love this game. There are so many moments of pure genius. Like walking down an alley and suddenly a truck comes towards you and you have a split second to get out of the road before it hits you/goes flying over the edge of a ramp and explodes. Taking heads off with a shotgun with lifelike physics.

Wouldn't recommend playing it at 3 in the morning in the dark though. I tried it and couldn't get to sleep afterwards.

I agree, this game is awesome. I like when you are using the 'penetrator' in multiplayer and you see your shots sticking out of the guys head or you nail him to the wall... very cool!
 
I have both FEAR and the expension, at first it was a great game, but I got really bored, it was repetative...

Appart from that, great game! :D :P
 
OK, well I just installed the expansion "Extraction Point" and now I can't get into any MP games at all... even in the original version.

I'm getting that ERROR message again, I checked my firewall and everything is just as it was when I was playing this morning.

Any ideas?
 
FEAR runs fine until I try to find a server, then it just says ERROR at the bottom of the server menu.

When I try to go to MP in FEAR:Extraction Point it asks me if I want to go to FEAR Combat...? I click yes and it tells me it can't find C:Sierra/Fear/\ExtractionPointMP.... etc and just wont start period.

I uninstalled the expansion pack thinking that might help but it was no help.
