Flashing Characters during boot

I have just changed out my Asus 8AN-SLI deluxe due to a overheated northbridge chip with another identical board. I am now getting barely ledgable text at start of boot, than the whole screen turns to flashing odd characters. Video card is an ATI X600 Pro AIW. As soon as the LCD gets the video signal from the computer it is barely legible. Any ideas appreciated.

First thing I would do is reseat the card and make sure the VGA/DVI connector is on all the way.

Well, solved that problem. Swapped video cards and problem solved. Thanks for the input.
