Hi All,

Just been looking at some flight simulators. Anyone recommened any? Wanna trial one out as dont think i'll like them style of game but would like to try it out.

Also do you have to have a joystick? I have a logitec playstation 2 style controller.

Also whats the idea of flight sims. I mean you just fly about your is their like missions on landing at places?

Theres flight simulators on filefront.com or one of those sites for demos.

There pretty good and you need to have a good video card to play them for some reason.

You don't NEED a joy stick but it's reccomended.

Yeah theres missons and you have to land places and do certain things.

i'd surely reccomend a (good) joystick for a fligh sim, since it really makes a difference. and with normal Flightsims, you can just fly as you please, or indeed fly missions (takeoff, land and entire flights etc). altough, normal FS's dont keep me entertained for long :P (Combat flight sims are much better imo)
Flightsim 2004 and FS:X would be the 2 flight simulators i could really recommend tough, theyre nice.

I have been looking at the Microsoft one - Flight Simulator X.

Just dont want the expense of like a hundred pound joystick.

Downloading a trial of microsoft flight X.

Im just getting bored of FPS, as their just all the same recently.

You should try IL2 - 1946 :) its a WW2 Combat Flight Sim. (and a quite nice one actually)

(and with a good joystick, I mean one with like 6 buttons and 4 axes, thei're like 30 pounds or so I gues.) but you want the basic functions on the joystick for sure, wich is rudder, pitch, jaw and throttle (the 4 axes) and for a combat flight sim, primary, 2ndairy and 3rd weapons, brakes, flaps (perhaps) and a hat switch to view)

either way, I'm pretty sure if you dont have a joystick with 4 axes, you'd be quite annoyed with a flight sim really fast.

free download and trial. this is a mmo flightsim if you like the
game play you can pay like $14 a month to play online.
my bro's like it alot and have been playing along time.
i cant play flight sims cause i suck a them so i never played it.

I loved the combat flight simulators, but hated the normal flight simulators to bits.
They were just too boring where as in the Combat one you could actaully kill stuff :)

i think its funny that flight simulator x is like 15GB of HD space

there sould be a demo for lock on somewhere on the electricalinterweb

What other joysticks would be good for a Flight Sim?
I'm gonna get Flight Simulator X soon, and dont have a joystick so i reckon i'd miss out on a chunk of the experience if didnt get one...

yeah u got to have a good joy stick for simulators.. the one jedijeff said is the one i was going to say.. i saw it in dicksmiths a few weeks back and it looks awesome! it would be the perfect companion with the new flight sim

It's hard to get me to admit it but I do like Lock On Modern Air Combat. You defiently need a joystick for it and it's not for people that like to fly in the battlefield games. I had an X36 (even older than an X45, it connected via gameport) but the pots got too clogged up and I couldn't get them out to clean them so the controls were very hit and miss, precision flying wasn't happening. I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo, it's good. The only complaint I have is it's too light, it needs a weight in the base.

I recommend Pacific Fighters & IL2 and you only need to have a good GPU to play these games, and the joystick is also important.

I still have the Microsoft flight simulator which can be updated with lots of new planes.
The problem is that you have to stick carefully to all flight lessons and you should have a pilot background i mean got familiar with flying issues.
