Hey Guys,.

Recently, my forum site crashed.

Now i need forum software that can run off one mysql database!

So that user register once and can use any forum...

What do you guys recommend???

Mybb - Doesn't allow you
Vbulletin - Can't afford it
phpbb - No Good

Thanks,

Cohen

MyBB is a great open source forum system and it only requires one MySQL database. I don't understand what you're asking though?

If you're considering vBulletin then use MyBB because it's free and VERY similar to vBulletin.

You could try SMF (simplemachines forum). Not sure about the databases but seems like you could mod/set that up.

What i wanted to do, was use the same user tabel on all forums... a friend of mine said you could bridge it in vbulletin.

But i solved the problem by just using the one forum and putting everything into that.

I would insert the link, but i don't want another infraction! (if you want the link to my site, pm me)

When you install vBulletin, in the admin section, there is
a way to transfer your old forum to vBulletin, without bridging
any tables. It is all automated. You select your old board,
select the database, and done.

You can probably find scripts on Google for transfering
one forum to another, for most forums. They definitely come
standard with vBulletin and Invision Board.

I would find a way to buy vBulletin - it's worth the money.
I think it is the other way around - you cannot afford to
NOT have it. The costs of having another cheap forum are
to great - losing all your topics, posts, visitors, etc. Just
put up a paypal donate button on your forum and ask
users to contribute so you can buy it. My forum has $240US
sitting in PayPal, and donations pay for our monthly hosting
as well.
