Gaming on a laptop

Well, i was thinking of buying a laptop to my Everquest on and read that there are many problems associated with playing on a laptop? That lag is horrible because the computer heats up and then it slows down the game? So was wondering what you all thought on this. I'd really prefer a laptop too over a home desktop because i don't really like doing stuff at home because my parents bug me way to much. Also, do you think there would be many problems playing via wi-fi at a library?

Also im 14 and dont know much about computers but i know that i need at least a pentuim 4 processor, 512 mb of ram, 3.0 gb hardrive, and a
NvidiaGeForce 3 or ati 8500 graphics card. When looking at laptops on e-bay and whatnot it doesnt say pentium 4 and the type of graphics card doesn't match whats needed. So i was wondering if there was some kind of equivvalency chart to figure out if the specs on other laptops are better or worse than what i need. So, i don't buy the wrong laptop.

idk of any charts for buying laptops but the specs you picked out arn't that good if you want to play games so what is your budget?

Just match the laptop specs to that of the game/s you wish to play then raise it a tad. When purchasing from ebay, you can always contact the seller for further information if the desired info is not shown. Remember that minimum requirements on games are not the best. Try and match the laptop to the recommended requirements when possible. I recommend that you go above the recommended requirements for games you wish to play. This will ensure that your games will play smoothly while slightly future proofing for future games.

As for heat, there are many ways to combat this issue. Perhaps the best would be to purchase a laptop cooler. A laptop cooler is a base which the laptops sits on, with fans built in for cooling.

just give me the budget you have, what games you wanna play, and we can tell you what computer could best serve your needs

Well, the game that this laptop will be only used for is EverQuest and I dont know if the specs i gave you were minimum requirement or not.
I dont really care if it's new or used. But, due to my "magnificent" price range of around $600 i'll probably be getting something used.
