Good MMO (Preferably Free)?

Hey all.

I played WoW for a while but I kinda dropped out of it since money was becoming an issue. I'm in the market for a good MMORPG. Free would be better. I already have Guild Wars and played over 1000 hours of Runescape, so I'm done with those.

I really liked WoW but don't really want to dish out 15 bucks a month for it. I'm going to be getting GW2 when it arrives but would like something to tide me over. I have Lord of the Rings Online installed and am playing through it but I feel like I'm going to hit a point where I'm going to have to start paying to keep going. I just started today though so we'll see how it goes.

Anyone know of a good WoW like MMO that isn't a pay to win game?

People seem to love League of Legends. Not quite the same thing, but you may give that a try.
 
I already saw that thread and I've looked around online but I'd like to hear opinions from people on here.

Yeah I've heard LoL is good. May try it sometime but looking for an MMORPG at the moment.
 
Free: Runes of Magic best free one although pay on add ons speed up the game you can still earn everything without paying but it might be slower but yea pvp is unbalanced and item based but overall good kinda a Wow clone

or you could wait for Guild Wars 2 which looks amazing and is a one time purchase :)
 
I guess no one reads original posts...

Clearly states that I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2, I've played WoW and Runescape, and Minecraft isn't really an MMO but I have it and like it.

Anyone have any experience with LOTRO?
 
What's wrong with what i said, Forsaken World is a free 2 play MMO on steam and is very similar to WoW from what i've played, not a bad game at all to me.

How? He said he wanted our recommendations, so i recomended he try FW. And i did read the other posts and nobody had mentioned it, and he said he was looking for a MMORPG like WoW.
 
he said no one, as in not a single person who has posted thus far. and i really don't care and i know you don't really either, let's just go back OT
 
Yeah sorry Jonny. Should have made that more clear. I wasn't talking about you. I actually looked at Forsaken World. Looks pretty good.

I'm enjoying LOTRO thus far but am afraid of hitting a plateau if I don't pay.

Edit: Just started downloading Runes of Magic. Seems like it's what I'm looking for. Most of the purchasable stuff is cosmetic and convenience items.
