Good PSU?

Hey, I have been looking around for a new PSU that can give atleast 500W at 50 dollars or less.

I had my eye on a "Seventeam" brand PSU. Has good wattage, gives off quite a good ammount of amps on 12V rail and is only 50$.

It's the Seventeam ST-650P-CG

Would this be good for a new build I'm doing.

Keeping hard drive, DVD Drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse.

i3 2100
8GB (2X4) GSKILL 1333Mhz Memory
ASRock H61M-U3S3 USB3 DDR3 Motherboard
Coolermaster 430
And the PSU listed above.

I'm in Australia so Aussie sellers please

Thanks for reading

The Seventeam ST-650P-CG looks like a decent power supply unit.

If I were you I would look at DDR3 1600 memory. If you want to save money get 4 gigabytes of RAM. What programs are you going to run that may require up to 8,000 megabytes of memory?

Well reason I didn't choose 1600 mHZ RAM is because my u2 said it only suPpprts 1333 mHZ max but otherwise I would of chosen the 1600mHZ and it's only a few bucks more.

Secondly I chose 8GB because there's a special deal on where 8GB is Only a dollar more.

Thanks for response. :D

What graphics card (if any) are you planning on using?

That power supply in insufficient for any PCIe graphics card as it only has 18A available to the 12V system minus the CPU due to the basic ATX design standards. http://www.crazysales.com.au/sevent...0&utm_source=myshopping.com.au&utm_medium=cpc

As such, if you plan on gaming with a discrete graphics card (other than the i3 integrated GPU) or overclocking etc, then this is not a wise choice. In fact I think it is a poor choice either way as it is a cheap and nasty chinese make. The PSU is the most important part of your computer.

For $10 more you should consider this instead, which is infinitely better, has more 12V rail amperage, better efficiency (you'll get the 10 bucks back in electricity costs), better warranty (the list goes on): Corsair CX430

The Corsair above will even take a mid-range graphics card in future, to somthing like a HD67770.

Recommendation:

Only get 4GB RAM (1333 is all you need) and use the extra coin to get the Corsair PSU. You will thank me later.

I was considering the CX-430 but wasn't sure but if it's better than the one listed and is only 10 dollars more then I might go with that, and it's an awesome black colour too :D

I am planning on using a RADEON 5670.

Well you definitely should get the CX430 then mate. Much much much better quality, and a full 28A available on the 12V rail. BTW, the 5670 isn't really a gaming card, so if you can afford the extra for a 5770/6770 (same thing) then go with that. This one is on special for $120. Great deal.

Thanks for the advice bigfella. But with this card I'm not going to be doing heavy gaming only light-ish games like Minecraft and TF2 and a few other games. And I already bought the card.

Thanks for help guys. :D

You definitely gave him a better option with the Corsair Power Supply Unit.

But I thought SevenTeam made okay quality power supply units. From what I have hear they make better quality than Rosewill or hec manufacturers.

Gotta love SHAW and A-Power high quality builds that always, and I mean always give out there labeled wattages.

Oh yeah and pigs can fly.

Nar I would never get a SHAW or A-Power. My friend has a SHAW, HDD crashed twice, luckily he didnt loose any data.
