Did the Sony come with dual sided or single sided memory? On most premade systems and laptops alike they will have something a little different at times so you have to buy their hardwares or you may have received a flawed sodimm? If the spacing was almost microscopic you could gently rub with a nail file if a bur was found in the material. Otherwise?

Sony has an adapter for using normal memory sticks at http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/So...s=desktops&langId=EN&campaignId=LEC-DT05NAVUK
As figured they have their own custom fit for memory sticks. This is why the Cprsair wouldn't go in the slot. Unfortunately they were out of stock on the Sony memory sticks you would use. If you can't return the Corsair the option to use the adapter is your choice there.
