HELP: Wireless Ethernet Router

I have a laptop and I recently purchased an Actiontec wireless ethernet router. I have a laptop i assumed it would be something like i could set it up and then take my laptop anywhere in the house and it would be wireless, but i was wrong its not wireless at all Its all connected. The wireless router has an antena is there something i could buy plug it in my ethernet or usb 2.0 connection and then it would be wireless.

you need the wireless pci card... get one that matches the brand of your router.. (if it is a name brand) and get the wireless b/g
 
You do not currently have a wireless card in there, but there is an antenna on the laptop? Is that right? What type of computer is it?
 
No there is an attena on the wireless router, and i want my laptop to be wireless how do i do it.
 
yes just get the pcimi card.. what type is your wireless router? for example b/g means it sends signals with the strength of b and g... B is the older one g is newer.. If you got a card which is g comliant only and your router is b then it wont work.
 
Oh forgot well its an actiontec, and ukonline broadband sent it to me, so i assum it would be g signal compliant

So if i buy a PCIMI Wireless card, signal strength g, coz it is stronger, configure my laptop for wireless. then bobs your uncle right?
oh how much will a wireless card set me back for a decent one. oh and thanks alot Trizoy for helping me. great help.
 
yeah that card would work fine. might pay higher prices because of the middle man.. Actiontech but if you dont mind the price. And you have a slot available.
