Hey. Well i really want a gaming laptop becasue im going to go off to college soon. I was looking at alienware comps, but a little too expenize. I really want a fast processor with a front side bus that can keep up with my processotr speed. That is why i like the alienware proccesors that are 3.2 with a 833 mhz FSB. Well i was also looking at ibuypower.com. But i dont really know what is very good there. I really ddont know the differance between the AMD proccessor or the Intel proccesor. So if you can please tell me any configrations any other sites have. Thanks.

you mean an 800 mhz fsb on the pentium 4. you'll get less than an hour and a half of battery life. what do you plan to do with the laptop and do you need a long battery life? do you need the laptop to be very portable or does it not matter? how much are you willing to spend? what games do you play?

What do you want to do? My laptop actually is normally running at 800MHz and is pleanty fast to just type with and such. If you want to play games and all, worry more about your video card than your processor. Of course you need a decent processor, but without a good GPU(particually with dedicated memory) you can just about forget gamming.

I don't know right off were to look. I prefer to do less shopping online, but if I had to, I'd check Newegg first. Acer typically has some good laptops, too, and I think newegg carries them...

OK thanks. Well i guess i want a long battery life with a good processor speed. I play CS 1.6 and Battlefield 2. Im not sure the video card on the alienware off the top of my head, but i beleive its the good kind. Well any other suggestions would be helpful. I would also use it to play music, type papers, and serf the internet. Stuff for college basically. I jsut want a good PC that would last long, but it very fast. Thanks

what about a budget?

Um. Well i guess around 2000 or less. Even though the alienware laptop i want is 2600. But if you could find something that is less than that it would be great. Sorry i didnt answer that question. I thought i got them all.

what about portability? does the weight or the size of the screen matter? whats your preference with a 17inch monitor?

Um. Yes i suppose a 17 inch monitor would be nice. No weight or dimension requirments. I mean maybe not to heavy. At least not anything over 7 pounds or anything. I guess i really diont care about that. Um a regular battery i suppose. I dont really know the differant kinds of batteries or anything. Um maybe like 1 GB of memory. Maybe like either 80 g of harddrive or 120. Um a CD-W and DVD player. Um what else?

I9300 will be mentioned for sure! so will the XPS2
i don't have the time to configure one right now, but i'm sure alan will.

the 2600$ alienware you are speaking of is actually much larger than it.
in a few days the price might go down quite a bit as well.

OK could you mkae a few changes. First could you makee it Microsoft XP Pro. Also is that a good video car? And sorry to bother you again, but do you think you can paste the website you configured this at and if you could copy the page you configured this at. I know you are probaley very busy, but it would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Im sure this website is at Dell.com or someting.

is there a reason you need xp professional? if your school recommends xp pro for network purposes see if your school is selling it. the college i attend sells xp pro for $15.

Oh ok. Well than nvmind. I guess that is easier. So this PC would a good PC for gaming purposes? And could you please post the link... Thanks

I mean not to sound like an ass or anything, but i compared the laptop that you told me to get from Dell with the laptop from Alieenware and the alienware is better with the same price. WHen i customized all the things on the Inspiron 9300 Laptop from Dell it came to about 2500. And only with a 2.3 Proccesor speed. I can get the alienware with a 3.0 Proccesor and a 120 G harddirvie for the same price. But maybe im doing somethin wrong or adding something wrong, but im pretty sure im not. Maybe other people can take a look instead of just you because i dont want to waste your time with my silly questions.

Did you guys not see this? you all asked what he was using it for. Anyways, gernally AMD proccesers are beter for gaming, and if your htinking of fast processer speed of "Ghz" having very high "Ghz" of clock speed isn't everything, even though INTEL wants you to think that.

thats correct. a faster clock does not alway mean better performance. and you must deviate between the pentium 4 and their line up of pentium M processor.

Wait. Now im confused. Where did you get this 40% off coupon? And i didnt see an option in the Dell computors to put a Pentimum M processor in?
