For you I'd try a different Linux Distrobution. One that's easier to install. Fedora has a 64 Bit version and installs easily and beautifully. Make 1 partition, about half the disk, and leave the rest blank, and install windows first. Linux will make it's own partitions in the remaining space. You'll want both windows and linux because there are almost no good linux games but you'll not get 64 bit support from a standard windows install, so you'll want linux for that. Games that run on linux will say so on the box or have the words "for linux" on a web site if you download it. Windows and Linux software is pretty easy to tell apart. if it's in a .tar.gz file then it's probably linux. if it's .zip or .exe then it's windows.

For future reference. If you get fed up with linux and want to delete the partition and just have windows, but after you delete it GRUB wont go away, get a regular windows 98 boot disk, boot from it and then type fdisk /mbr

Right now I'm running windows. I'd run both but I haven't had a chance to install linux yet. Linux hasn't matured yet enough for me to run it all by itself. If you want to play with it without permantly installing it download Knoppix. It runs directly off a bootable CD.

And if im not mistaken, 64bit games like Red Mercury, play better on W64 but that could just be attributed to native vs emulated mode :)

NM I am going Linux forget Windows!

So then you've decided not to build a gameing computer then?

ifs a gamming machine u should install both linux an windows.......u c most games are not compatible with linux os

Yup so basicly if your building a gameing puter and your only using one OS then Windows is the only real choice. Linux games are far and few.

Truth fears no questions
My personal opinion is that Linux is not meant for games... at least not yet

I have a computer with Matrake and Knoppix and another comp with Fedora I basically spend my time with BASH and KORN... only productive things...

My gaming machine has windows... and I dont see any REAL reason to run linux on it.

as my opinion keep your comp as 'simple' as it can!!
just try to make it one os is better
MultiOS environments can be extremely simple depending on how they are implemented :) (i.e., racks/swaps vs multiboot)
