there might be a lot easier way of doing this but I don't know so let the fun begin!

1. download XN resource editor (http://www.wilsonc.demon.co.uk/d10resourceeditor.htm)

2.and open this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll with it (Assumming that your OS is installed on your C drive.)

3. and make sure you make a backup of the file first.

4. and on the left side go to icon group and open each folder in tell you find the icon you want to change and then replace it with the one you want. (It should be folders 6-13)

let me know if you want more info or details

well the fastist way I found is to open the icon you want to relace it with in paint and to ctrl+a and then it XN resource editor to do a ctrl+v when you has the icon you want to replace selected. hope that help if not I will be happy to try again. ;)

How about a goodie but oldie? IconPhile is an older freeware that seems to work in XP as well as back when 98 was primary. You find that at http://www.virtualplastic.net/scrow/iphile.html

Another brief method for using notepad to create the aurorun file to be saved to the root directory and a new value in the registry is seen at http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1847172,00.asp These methods are effective until you start moving or deleting files. Along with that method as mantioned earlier how about a freeware that will change all default system icons? ActivIcons is found at http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_aifw.html
