ok so my big brother has an internet site and he can get a scan of users thats visited it

ie my ip to even the size of my screen resolution

ive tried stopping this but cant seem to stop it? is there any progs out there to stop this info

You can try using a proxy, and every internet website you visit can get your IP, this forum now has your IP, its most likley on the bottom left of your post viewable by admin's only.

yeah but hes using some kind of logging software i know using a proxy will give a different ip its not that im bothered im just trying to get around it in general to see if its possible

once he has logged my ip he can tell me what screen size im running what version of ie and so-on but he reakons he can tell what websites i have visited also?

is this true?

not that i have anything to hide from him but i dont believe hes telling the truth as he wont give me an example id like to know if it is possible for this to happen as it will make me more carefull in the futre as i think thats quite an invasion of privacy

to be honest if you rig is unprotected, (i.e. no firewall) then it can be done.
But i feel confident in saying that he is full of $hit, anyone able to do this would tend not to discuss it, and if they felt confident enough to brag about it they would definatly give you and example.

When people visit my site, I get logs of there IP's, resalutions, OS, and browser. Most host's have the software on the server's for it, and if they don't there are plenty of stat prorgams out there.

Only the good one's can actully match the ip's with the brower and everything, most just show it as graph's, this is actully helped me so i know the resalution's to diesgn my site around, because over 80% was using one resalution.

If you want to be really safe you can always start using Fire Fox, disable cookies disable Java, disable Javascripts, download SM anti spy-ware beta, get Zone Alarm fire wall, and Norton antivirus virus.

Then it would just say that he's using firefox, there is nothing really unsafe about it, it can tell the brrowser by the code that gets sent to the server.

so the real answer is NO?

im running service pack 2 firewalled
and my isp own firewall and antivirus soft
couple of trojan anti spy progs
peer guardian
window washer--used regularly

so id say the chances of him doing this is 0 ?
