So I have this laptop. As you can read from the title, it's an HP dv6-1100so.
It's a fine regular laptop, but I have a problem.
The PC came with Vista on it, so I immediately re-installed it with Windows 7.
The problem is: Every time I install this specific driver, it's gonna go into a loop of BSODs when "Starting Windows" during boot.
Note: Un-checking the SATA driver and installing only the USB driver will not cause it to BSOD.
Since Windows 7 didn't work, I though I'd try and see if Windows XP would work (to check if it was the driver for Windows 7, seeing as it already had Vista installed).
I can't even install Window XP. Every time XP is loading its files before installing, the PC BSODs.
I've tested the PC with several different HDDs, tested the memory (why not?) and tested the HDD through the BIOS.
Ubuntu 12.04 worked fine on the machine, although I'm a rookie and don't know if it needs/installs/cares about drivers.
Any suggestions on what to do? I'm pretty sure the guarantee is gone.
Thanks in advance.
