Hp laptop, hard drive isssues.

So I been getting alot of strange issue with my hard drive here lately, bsod's and stuff, so I have done chkdsk twice and both times it found bad sectors and clusters. But now I run a hard disk drive test and it gives a 303 error. The funny thing is I can use this computer for hours with no problems(I'm even typing this on this computer) So my question is, is my hard drive really going bad or is there some other issue going on here? n btw I have done the recovery discs, but I still need to back up all of my files still.

303 is a short test fail. Your drive is on the way out according to that.
Back up your files and get a new drive.

After you got the new drive going get an app called SpinRite 6 and try running it on the old drive and see if it recovers.

The 303 error means the drive is indeed failing and you need to replace it. Back up any data you may need and (if necessary) contact HP to have it replaced under warranty. Otherwise you'll have to replace the drive and reinstall Windows yourself.

My warranty literally ran out on march 4 2012, go figure, they must make them just good enough to last for the warranty, then they fail.

well in general, if you look at what they put into laptops, they put the cheapest stuff inside them. What I like about desktops is you can choose what to put in them. And have higher quality for a decent price, if you want a really good laptop it seems like you have to spend a fortune for one. But I've come to realize that I just going to keep using this one until the hard drive completely fails. I have two other computers, (both are desktops) n I have all my files backed up and recovery disks made. So I'm just going to use this until it dies. What I like about laptops is that they are very mobile and that is very nice. What I don't like is they don't seem to last.
