HUGE problem....

Ok so I got the last part for my system yesterday (my ram) and so I put my ram in there, then turn it on. Comes to the BIOS screen and then asks to put the OS cd in and hit enter. I have always been told put it in then TURN OFF your computer then TURN IT ON and it will go straight to the setup. Well I turn it off and then turn it back on......NOTHING....nothing shows on the screen. The monitor stays in standby. It acts like theres not a signal being sent to it I guess casue everything on the inside turns on just like normal but nothing shows on the monitor and the LED that shows its status is orange (orange = standby, blue = on). So I tried checking my connections, still nothing. So I unhooked EVERYTHING and put EVERYTHING back in the case and reconnected everything. Still nothing. So by now im pissed so I leave the house and call up a friend to ask him. He says he'll come by when he gets off work and take a look at it. The parts got here around 5:30 and then he gets over to my house around 10:30 and so we go to my room open up the front, and BAM....it works. So we get windows XP installed and running fine. So then we install the software for my wireless PCI card and then we turn off the system and install my PCI card and then try and turn on the system. NOTHING. It wont show on the monitor just like last time. All the stuff inside turns on but nothing shows on the monitor, it stays in standby the whole time.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME!!??

To me that sounds like an issue with the power supply but the blame could also lie with the motherboard (sadly).

Try and get another power supply to test your system. Also, try and find out what BIOS version your motherboard has and see if there are any fixes for the problem you have.

I have also seen problems with poor video signals-- either the cable to the monitor, the connection, or the video card itself causing problems.

@ Hairly_Lee - well I dont see how it could be the motherboard if everything turns on and works unless the PCI slot is messed up or something....

There are such things as intermittant faults which cant be pinned down straight away. Try getting the system to the point where it wont turn back on again, then remove the power cable from the wall for about 15 - 20 seconds then plug it back in again. See if your system turns on after that.
I've seen this happen to systems with bad power supplies.

I bought a psu when i bought all these parts and its an Antec 550 Truepower 2 and I also have the PSU that came with the case and I just tested it with the case PSU and nothing showed again...

well i'd go out on a limb and say its a motherboard problem, but it would be best to perform a minimum boot; by removing all none essential items so that you're left with mainboard, graphics and one stick of ram.
Reboot into the bios a couple of times and see if it still happens, try the other stick of ram (if you have 2 or more) and see what happens.
If you are still getting this problem i would say that the mainboard is at fault for sure

So should I remove the processor and stuff or not? and how are you able to tell just by that that is the motherboard? cause the video card is still connected so whats to say it isnt the video card?

It sounds like it's the video card. Do you have speakers connected? Does the windows XP startup sound play even when nothing appears on the screen? Try connecting a different video card and see if it works.
