Need help
PS:i`m noob :o

do your research before doing such a risky think like that!!! open your computer case, take out the battery on the motherboard for 1-2 minutes, put it back in and you should be fine.

Edit- P.S. you just voided that warranty, so dont screw up again.

A little off topic, but can they tell if damage was done by overclocking or by a faulty CPU, and do they if you send it back?

Unless you say the motherboard/PSU randomly gave the CPU too much voltage for no reason, they will know you intentionally increased voltage to overclock.

If you leave voltages alone (set it to a value, not Auto), they can't tell if you've overclocked, as you won't have done any damage.

Depends on what terms AMD/Intel replace processors on. It may be they just replace those that have got 'worn out' or were damaged during production.

They may simply say 'not my problem that you didn't have a surge protector' to you.

But, were the pins burnt due to a fault within the processor, or a separate component.

From AMD (no doubt same with Intel)
This limited warranty does not cover damages due to external causes, including improper use, problems with electrical power, accident, neglect, alteration, repair, improper installation, or improper testing.

i know its more about how to get a replacement on your cpu now .. or ways to get around the system i guess if thats what you want to bluntly call it, but do u really care if ur 3500+ died .. i mean how much does it cost to replace one of those anyways. like 50 bucks or something... its not something to much you should be worrying about ... Oh and when overclocking.... with your fsb make sure your ram can handle it cause if ur running like cheap say ddr 400 ram even a few mhz above stock can kill it or least kill some sectors, if u have a really cheap brand thou ...

i've killed entire computers (power supply, processor, ram, motherboard, etc.) with a static grill-ignitor.

It's the silent killer.
