So i have my computer build all planed out. i will be ordering the parts in a few days. now this is going to be my first build. my friend that has built 30+ computers will be helping me, but i really wanna learn as to what the hell im doing rather than just stand there and look at him. but my question is, what do i do after i have the computer built? do i load windows and then start downloading drivers for all of my equipment i have? or do i have to do stuff in the BIOS first? if someone could please explain the post-build process that would be greatly appreciated. thanks

You BIOS should be all set up and ready to go. You should only enter the BIOS if you want to change settings, tweak your setup to run faster, change your HDD boot order, etc...

What you will have to do is get a Windows XP cd (or any other operating system) and tell your computer to boot from the CD/DVD drive. In this case, you can either go into your BIOS and change the boot order so that your CD/DVD drive comes first, or you can select to boot from your CD/DVD drive for a menu that appears (usually a feature on most new motherboards).

After that, the installation of the OS itself should be pretty simple, especially if it's Windows.

After it's installed, yes, you will need to download your drivers, etc... Anything that need updating. You will also have to install all the Anti-Virus software, firewall if you require any. And, depending on what version of Windows you use, you may need to download SP2 (optional).
