Hello all,

My Grandmother's computer, is having internet problems.

My grandfather's laptop, is working fine, and he never has problems.

But my grandmother's dell desktop has some problems. I have Run Malware Bytes, also i have run Hijackthis and well as Combo Fix, and have fixed everything and still having problems.

Their Anti Virus is McAfees.....

The problem is, you open up IE7, and google won't open.... but then as soon as your hit F5, or fresh the page, it works!

Sometimes she'll be uploading a file.... and then it just cuts out.....

ISP Connections have been tested and are fine....

Any Suggestions???

It's a Intel Pentium 4, 512MB, Dell, windows XP, computer.

Thanks,

Cohen

So, it's only her computer that's having problems? How are the computers set up (all connected to one single broadband router or something like that)? Try disabling the firewall and give it a go...

Ya I kinda figured it would be a computer :P

OK, well, my Grandmother lives 3 kms up the road from me, and my dad and i have set up a wireless link up there. Long story about how we do it, but we do :P.

At my Grandmother's house, the laptop and desk go into a switch, with goes to the wireless link. Then comes to my house, goes into a switch, and then into the Modem / Router.

It is only her computer that has problems.

No other Computers on the net work have a problem.

I have disabled McAfees, and Reinstalled IE7.

My Dad say, to repair windows, i don't think that would fix it, right?

Would it be worth a try, if i checked another CAT5 cable, and see if it does the same thing?

Actually, that might well fix it... better yet, unless there's a tons of stuff to back up and fancy programs thar require time to set up, reinstall the whole thing. That way you can rule out the possibilty of software/configuration error. Unless, of course, the laptop's been stuffing up from the very beginning, which could mean that there's something incorrectly set up. Which leads me to my next question: when did the computer start acting up, did it just start doing it or has it been doing it "always"?

If you have a spare one lying around, definitely.
