I have Mediacom digital cable, and I have had the service for about 4 years now. Out of the blue, beginning this weekend, the internet loads/moves VERY slowly. We have three computers, a desktop, and 2 laptops. We use a wireless router for the 2 laptops.
On Friday the internet seemed to slow down. This was the first time in 4 years we have had this problem. The pages that we have already visited load quickly for the most part, and usually the first few pages we look at load pretty fast. Inevitably after a few pages we'll go to some random page (example: nytimes.com/weatherunderground.com) and it will take 30+ seconds to load and not all the images will load. A lot of time it will just say page not available after awhile. After that first problem w/ a page we then have trouble visiting any page, including those we already visited.
Also, some sites will still load quickly even after the problem starts and while other will barely load at all. This site loaded pretty quickly, but gmail took forever when I went back to retrieve my user name.
Finally, the wireless says it is connected and signal strength is excellent. Why would they all have the same problem and why would the problem be so random. (FYI: The same pages seem to load slowly/quickly on all three computers) Also, how long they have been having this problem seems odd. Three days makes me think the problem might be on our end.
