Is that the thermal compound?

Its been a wile but now that i think about it i don't think i put any thermal compound on pc in my spec.

There was a brown strip on the heat sinking fan, At the time i though it was the thermal compound. But now i am thinking maybe it is just a type to protect the coper core.

Should i buy a thermal compound from bestbuy and slap it on the cpu?

The pc is running fine, at least no problems so far.

what do you guys think?

was this the stock heatsink that comes with it... if so, yes, that was the thermal pad, its supposed to be there, for best results you should take that all off and apply you're own, but if you dont want to that works fine, thats what it's there for.

thanks dragon. I was just wasn't sure if there is thermal compound on it or not.
Maybe i will put some thermal past on it later when i build another pc.
