I was thinking if there is a way to see what is connected and using the internet on my computer....
I think i have a virus using the internet since my modem lights are flashing like mad even though im not using the net.....

does it flash constantly? it may be windows update or your virus program downloading updates in the background.

No, it flashes constantly.... Sometimes fast.... And this happens all the time.
I dont think its the virus/spyware software downloading updates because i chose to notify me before hand.

Im sure its a virus or spyware connecting to the net. But i just found a virus, and got rid of it... did a re scan and found no spyware or virus's... but i have these constant flashing lights on my modem.... which i never had before. I have a cable modem, which is 'always on', the only time the lights flash is when data is being past or sent through it.

Not being paraniod, but i think someone is/trying to connect to my computer remotely.
The Transmit light on my cable reciever/transmitter is always flashing and my HD light is constantly flashing too. About the same time my modem starts to flash constantly. Trojan horse, worm? Symantec online scanner says no but im worried that someone or the ISP has some of that CODE RED sht goin on.

if you have something like zonealarm,

it will ask you what programs are trying to access the internet and give you the option to allow it or not. so you can try something like that or like a different firewall. do you have any?

Just windows sp2's firewall.

I dont use them since they take up memory. And i have a limited supply.

Ok iv used zone alarm and i found this:

ZoneAlarm has blocked access to port 1028 on your computer

ZoneAlarm has successfully stopped local network or Internet traffic from reaching your computer. No breach in your security has occurred. Your computer is safe.
Inside the firewall alert

Alert property Alert property value Technical explanation
Source IP Address 218.201.43.148 The IP address of the computer that sent the packet which caused the alert.
Source Port 32791 The port used by the source computer when sending the packet.
Destination IP 86.20.xx.xxx The IP address of the computer to which the packet was sent.
Destination Port 1028 The port on the destination computer used to receive the packet.
Transport Layer Protocol UDP The protocol that allows data to be transported between software programs on different computers.
Network Layer Protocol IP The protocol that allows two networked computers to locate each other on a network.
Link Layer Protocol Ethernet The protocol that allows two directly linked computers to share a network cable.
Alert Date Dec-29-2005 12:32:55 PM PST The time when ZoneAlarm detected the alert on your computer.
Alert Count 1 Number of times this connection attempt repeated its attempt on your machine after the original alert. ZoneAlarm shields your machine from repeated displays of an identical alert.

I get a message pop up in my taskbar saying something is trying to connect every few minutes.... something is not right... not right at all.
Any help?

go to run -> type "cmd" -> type "cd \" -> type "netstat" to show connected ports

type "netstat /?" on how to access other information using it

Hi, i have done that. I found that theres ALOT of 'Earthlink' and 'Aol' names in the Foreign addresses section. There all in 'time wait' status....

This is what im talking about:

are you behind a router??
if so then there is probably a problem, or another machine on your network is also infected....however zone alarm shouldn't block connections like that, my guess is that you are connected straight to your modem, straight to your ISP...in which case, you will probably get a lot of intrusion attempts

for the most part, it's script kiddies who download port scanners and try to log into any machine they can. If your zone alarm is catching that, then there's nothing to worry about, but just make sure to keep your windows updated and your zone alarm updated

This could be your problem... http://www.simovits.com/trojans/tr_data/y806.html These trojans use port 1028 I remember your hijack this log and you had alot of viruses and trojans...my guess would be you have a trojan trying to connect thats why your modem light keep flashing its sending outbound packets waiting for a responce but its not getting one because your firewall is catching the inbound packets! Are you sure you got rid of spyaxe?
