is there special hd dvd burners? or can we just buy a normal dvd burner to burn hd dvds?
and what kind of dvds are we using in order to burn hd dvds, i have no idea...

DVD's can ONLY burn 4.7G and 8.5G disks. I don't know what size HD DVDs will be, but you will not be able to burn them if they are in fact a different format. You won't even be able to read them.

well, the hd clip i downloaded has a size of 700mb, is that mean i can put .7Gb*6=4.2Gb ? put 6 of these clips in one dvd?
the format? i think is dviX or something, well it plays on dviX with no problem...

i am thinking of getting this particular dvd burner...

and, after that can you tell me how to burn a dvd and make sure it works on my TV dvd player? although its not HD Tv...
i thought it would be nice to know these things...

You can technically put ANYTHING on a DVD you want as long as it'll fit. However, if you want it to actually play in say a DVD player or whatever, it must be in the correct format. And, oddly enough, most DVD players won't play CD-R's with DVD information on them...

The easiest way to do that it to use Nero. It is possible to encode the files yourself and burn them, but the chances are that it will not work. Nero does everything automatically for you.

But is this an "HD-DVD"? I don't know if he's wanting the high resolution and all, or just to burn a random file to the DVD...

That DVD burner you posted will read and write DVD's fine, but it will not burn a HDDVD you need a whole nother reader and burner for it, to give you an idea on pricing, just a reader for a HDDVD will cost you about 200$.

I don't think he understands. Currently there is standard DVD-Writers, most write on 4.7 Gb disc, yet there are dual layer DVD's that must be burnt with a dual-layer writer. High Definition movies can be burnt onto normal dvd's but HD-DVD is a whole different thing. HD-DVD's would require a new burner (HD-DVD burner), new discs, and a new dvd player. I believe HD-DVD's hold 50Gb and they truley display High-definition movies at 1080P.

but still this is not clear to me, if i burn a HD-quality clip onto a dvd using a dvd burner, what would happen?
would it still play this clip on a dvd player?
(if i used nero to burn it)

That would depend on the file type, and if the dvd player supports that file type...not to mention if it supports dvd+-r.

The "standard" for DVD's is MPEG2, 720x480, 29.97FPS, etc etc. HD-DVDs is 1080p as mentioned(I don't know the specs for that right off, but it's MUCH higher than plain DVDs)

So, besides the fact your DVD player doesn't even have the capability to play such high resolutions, but burning some random movie to the disk won't mean it's going to play. Few DVD players can plan anything besides the "standard" DVD with the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories(I think they ended in TS...something like that :P) Also, as mentioned probably a few times, that format has yet to come out. You might be able to find how it's suppose to be compressed, written to the disk, and such...but good luck finding a DVD player capable of playing it!
