Is this computer fast

Intel Pentium 4
CPU : 3.01GHz
Ram : 480 MB
File system : NTFS

If more information is required tell me

Heya,

FAST is very relative. In my view, it is a generally fast computer. Are you referring to a laptop or a desktop? For a desktop it's nothing that great but will get you through most tasks without a problem. If it's a laptop, judging by the amount of RAM, it is pretty fast but will not have a long battery life. You should have a look at the graphics card as well because it's the processor, motherboard, RAM (type, configuration), graphics card and the speed of the HDD. A 7200RPM HDD will perform better than a 5400RPM HDD. If you could, do let us know in greater detail.

Relative AND undefinied.. ;) If I put a 286 into the back of my car, and go drive 200Km/h on a highway,... is it fast? ( yea... I'm sorry, stupid comment, but im terribly bored :( )

anyway, like said, its decent, altough nothing special ( but then, my pc isnt either, so thats relative too :o )

480mb ram? Are you running a 128mb dimm with a 256mb dimm? With two 256mb dimms you would total 512mb.
Integrated Graphics ;)

The comments made earlier sum most of it up. It's not top of the range, but not too bad either. If it's gaming machine, the video card is of key importance.

Well that's the thing to find out first by asking. What is the 480mb or ram? Is it system memory or video memory? How is that figure being derived? Is it a combo of dimms or something after the board takes it's own slice?

That looks similar to what my uncle has.
He has a P4 3Ghz
Onboard sound/Graphics
480Mb of ram.

I used his system the other day because he wanted windows xp re-instaling and to be honest it was quite fast.

However no good for playing games at all...its okay for general use like Internet and word processing.

More ram would be good.

It would help to know just the system specifications are there. Besides adding memory and a faster model cpu there's nothing else to use for comparison.

umm how do i reach the other specifications thats all i could find out .. sorry about that but can you tell me where to reach the other specifications ?

If that was a complete system the make and model would help. A quick trip to the manufacturer would locate the specifications in the support section. Is that a complete or a custom build? The make and model of the system board would be a great help in finding out if it's a custom case.

What's the chances someone will have 480megs of ram without integrated. Think about it.

He'll need..

256mb+128mb+64mb+32mb of ram sticks in order to get 480mb, and I doubt anyone would buy 32mb sticks of ram ;)

What you missed is the fact that 32mb is most likely taken out of 512mb of system memory by the onboard graphics. That would be the one thing to account for the odd size there.

sorry about the size

The text is unreadable. What are you using to capture the screen with? 123 Screen Capture Pro works well here if you need another program to see a larger size.

it also has integrated graphics

Since you haven't posted the make and model of the board that was the closest estimate there. There are some bench mark programs you can download like 3DMark05, PCMark05, SiSoftware's Sandra Lite, and some others. But the size of the programs themselves can easily fill up a cd-r.

It isn't bad for a work based system, but not top notch.

With integrated graphics, your gaming performance will be poor. If you're interested in gaming, a discrete video card and another 512MB RAM would be helpful.
