Is this worth the money?

Or should I educate myself and get something better for my buck?

I am looking for heavy film editing as well as CAD modeling so I would like to have great processing power for 1080p film as well as memory to rotate those delicate 3D models.

What can you guys suggest?

I hope this link works showing what I choose, I basically opted for the best. Also any word on these solid state drives? I had recently read about them but did not know that they were being implemented already!

Did not work

opted for best totla is $2,332.98

Thanks for any help.

Also I'd like to add that I am looking for something moderately portable, I am a college student.

Wow thanks guys, these prices are phenomenal.

Certainly not aesthetically appealing though the computer makes up for price and performance, I would much rather take performance than looks.

Thank you for these options.

I think I will go for the 17" option despite my complaint on portability, perhaps a bigger backpack is what I will need.

I am curious why the smaller costs more than the larger though it seems that it is the HDD is it not possible for the 670 to be in the 15" computer? Or is it more regarding the size increase?

I own the G75 and its a terrific laptop, for the price. (I did upgrade a few things, but out of the box it is still excellent) (And it has RAID capability)

That HP is junk and way over priced! They are cheap, poorly made, and support sucks!

Also, who cares if it is pretty to look at, does it perform is all that matters..

You are looking for a laptop for CAD modeling. All those laptops have a gaming video card. You want more of a CAD modeling card, like a firepro or quadro.

They will run circles around a gaming video card.

And yes, HP support is bad, but the elitebooks are pretty good compared to their lower-end models.

He's right. You need a modeling card, not a gaming card.

The Lenovo W520 is the best one out the bunch for what you need.

HP quality standards are low.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask what was the newest "best" thing out there. I am interseted in the "cad modeling card" mentioned.

I will be going into the military soon and I will have some money to spend so I'd finally like to get a computer capable of doing anything I want.

If you guys have suggestions of what is currently the best or what will be within 4-5monthts I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again for the previous responses.

The quatros and the gaming cards are identifcal, what you pay for is software and support - thats the only difference.
