I read somewhere awhile ago that when downloading something you take the download speed (e.g 500KB/s) and multiply that by 8 to get your download speed in MB. Was I mis-informed?
I guess what I'd like to know is what the kb/s and KB/s to MB conversion would be.
I just came to the conclusion about an hour ago that my 1-80KB/s download speed on a 6MB/s connection was due to my router not being supported by Vista, which is causing quite a few errors and decreasing my connection to the internet. (I have a Netgear WGR614v5). After connecting directly to my modem my download speeds (same files from the same site) jumped up to about 625KB/s, then to 700KB/s, then to 715KB/s and is now continuously downloading at 750KB/s.
Anyways, any useful help is very much appreciated
EDIT: Thanks to a quick reply from a friend, I have now used the bandwidth calculator to figure this out. Thanks anyways, and next time I won't be so impatient
