Don't know exactly how the cd got hot enough to melt anyway....

Anyone got a 360 DVD rom drive for sale?:P

Wow, I have never seen that before. If you call MS and tell them that it easily could have caught fire, I am sure they will send you out a replacement real fast. And while your at it, ask for an extra headset or something too.

Which 360 and dvd drive do you have? I can imagine the older models doing that, but if it was a newer one...Either way, overheat your 360 till it red rings and send it in for replacement :D!

wow that blows. like everyone else said, 'break' it or complain to some indian guy that your house almost caught on fire because a plasma grenade jumped through your tv.

you'll have bill gates at your house within a day with a nice fancy check and a new 360 with his name written on it lmao

call Microsoft and send them the pictures. seeing you opened the xbox, that voided the warranty (wich could be used against you I'm afraid) but this is something that really should not be able to happen.

I once put in my fave game into a PC DVD drive and it exploded inside and when I opened the drive, out came bits and cogs. sometimes it's a cracked disk that does that.

Will Xboxes ever not have an overheating problem? >.> They really should realize that all the crap they pack into them is unreasonable and they're practically asking for it.

They'll just release a new version of the system with liquid cooling and call it the "Arctic" edition. :)

Actually they have a new 65nm core in some of the new ones and they run MUCH cooler/quiter.

wow 65nm cores. exactly what processor do the current ones have? i know its dual core, but is it something low like a 3800 or more 'up there'

Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
2 hardware threads per core; 6 hardware threads total
1 VMX-128 vector unit per core; 3 total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
1 MB L2 cache
