Laptop no longer turning on?

Hello CF,

So I have a friend who has a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Notebook and has had issues the past 2 weeks. She told me her laptopw ould not turn on for whatever reason. The minute I began working on it, I pluged it in and pushed the power button on a little harder than normal and it worked.

I reseted the Laptop 3 times and tunred it on to make sure it worked. It did, and I told her to just push the power button a little harder when turning it on. The same day I gave it back to her, it no longer wants to turn on now. She stated that she pressed the Power button harder and it worked only the first power on. Afterwords, it just didnt want to start up.

I am more of a Desktop guy, I am not all too well with laptops. Im thinking its either the cord or battery. The light blinks twice when i try turning it on and nothing happens afterwords. I cant think what else could be the solution or what the problem is.

Have you tried switching the RAM? it is possible that you may have some bad memory which would also be preventing it from turning on. It's happen to me before

Never thought about it. Ill look into the laptop once I find a screw driver and an appropriate place to fix it. Ive also noticed: When I hold down the power button, the light sends out blinking lights.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Try the drain the capacitors trick. Remove the battery, hold down the power button to drain all the electricity, then insert the power cord (don't reinsert the battery just yet), see if she boots up. If not, remove all the RAM sticks, then try booting her up. If you get a beep code, you know your motherboard is not dead, but most likely one or more of your RAM DIMMs were/are defective. If you do not hear any beep codes, then your motherboard is likely.
