1.My PC has a Intel P4 processor, 1Gb RAM, DDR1. I purchased it in the year 2005.. I need to know is there any possible upgradation that can be done so that I can play latest games like FIFA 10, FIFA 11.
2. Will buying a new Desktop be rather cheaper than upgrading old one?
3. I have seen different types of graphic cards, they have different names. How do I know which one is the best. They do now provide specifications.

1. No

2. Since you likely cannot upgrade anything worthwhile in your existing machine (assuming it's a pre-built/OEM), then yes you would need to buy a new desktop or custom build your own PC.

3. If you give us a budget, we can help you choose a suitable graphics card.

1. fifa might be doable (but most likely won't be doable) but newer first person games definitely won't be.

2. almost always yes and especially seeing (as mep said) as how you can't transfer anything over.

3. again, like mep said, a budget will help a lot. have any other games you want to be able to play?

yeah, I didn't check the min. requirements for those games, but I'm assuming this machine, at best, would barely cut it on low.

Budget for new desktop is 100k rupees (almost 2k dollars) and for graphic card 10k rupees(200 dollars i guess)

Well i am more concerned about the graphic card. I have a good idea about Desktops and its specifications, but I don't know about Graphic cards.
I really want top games like latest EA sports games like fifa 11, latest GTA games and other top high quality games to work on it.
Please suggest.

Ankur, with a 2k dollar machine you can get a real good one. If you are hardocore gamer, check out Alienware.

Alienware is a rip off. There is no point paying for an overpriced machine. You can build your own and get much more performance than to get Alienware. For 2k you definitely can build a perfect computer including a graphic card.

The one in your sig is a good example, though you could probably go better than that, I assume it cost less than 2k? Remember that not everywhere has cheap parts like the US, however.

Not everyone is comfortable with building their own PC. With the OP living in India, it may be difficult to get decent prices and access to hardware in the first place, so something like an alienware may be the best, most convenient option. I'm not familiar with the market in that area and too lazy to google it.

Should be able to get something nice with that budget however.

Well the hardware is available here, but what about building my own PC and uploading the OS and other softwares?
I will need a pro for this i guess.

to be honest, it isn't that hard to do. if you don't know much about hardware, just looking up a simple guide such as this one will get you to where you need to be in order to build. plus, you have all of us to help :) totally up to you though.

:) Well i am quite ignorant about stuff, but is there a possibility that I may blow up those costly chips and hardware.
LOL... Once i tried installing a 4 GB software.... the CD just shattered into pieces, but I will see the videos and photos posted in this forum.:)

Yes it did cost a less than 2k. It was really cheap because i had a good discount on all of the parts and i had few promo codes to use when i bought the system. He can definitely get better set-up than mine with 2k budget.

True point. I did not consider that. :(

To the O.P With Fifa 11 (which i have) I would suggest in buying it for PS3 as these games by EA sports are designed for Consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox360 then edited later for PC, Wii, Mobile, Iphone

"Ankur" I'm not saying don't get a PC as you definantly need one. My last PC until this year was almost the exact same as yours is now a P4 system with 1 gb ram when I realised it was time for an upgrade (well that and the motherboard broke lol).

P.S "Lubo 4444" nice system man :P
