besides redhat, what is a good Linux OS to start out on? i've heard Suse. I'm pretty good with unix commands(maybe just average) and learn that kinda thing quickly. You guys have any suggestions? I've also heard Gentoo is great but i suck way to much to build the OS and use that powerful of a OS i do believe.

I've used SuSE, RedHat, Gentoo, Debian, Mandrake and Slackware. My favorite is Slackware, but it might be a tad hard for a noobie. I've heard Mandrake is great for noobies but I didn't like it (but that was a few years ago). I think SuSE is good for anyone who is used to using Windows. YaST makes installing easy, and keeping up to date and configuring etc.

Mandrake is quite nice for beginners. I have it running on a secondary computer and it is appealing to the eye and easy to learn. Go for 9.2 or 10 becasue t has the new kernel I believe.

Yeah I will have to agree with Mandrake 10.0 Its a great OS. GREAT driver capability. And complete ease of use.
