Local playing with no internet.(need fast response)

hi guys.
Im taken on a short vacation, and my brother and i, wants to play fx counter strike source with each other. we dont have any internet access and 1 of my friends have told me that "you can play local with a internet cabel into both of your laptops, and create a local game." is it possible and how?

You don't have to do it with 8 players, though. You will need an ethernet cable, and your two laptops must have ethernet ports

Yep. You won't be able to play anyone around the world or anything like that, 'cos your not connected to the internet, but you are to each other via LAN

You'll need to use a crossover ethernet cable. I've never done LAN gaming without a router but I'm pretty sure that if you don't have a router between the two computers, a crossover ethernet cable is required.
