Do you all think this is a good deal? And for how long will this computer be able to run games at top or near-top settings?

Thanks in advance!

Oops! Forgot to mention any sort of budget. Seeing as I want this to be a laptop that lasts me several years, I'm willing to spend about what this one costs. Maybe a few hundred dollars more if I can get value for my dollar.

If you guys know of any laptops with better specs than the one I posted above that is a lower price, let me know!

Thanks again.

Is it really worth to spend that sort of money on laptop?

By the way, I suggest you go for 128/ 256GB SSD for OS + program, than HDD for storage.

RAM: not sure why 12GB. It usually be 4GB x2 or 8GB x2

Thanks for the response. I don't know that it is worth it. I would get a desktop, but I'm a college student, and a laptop is far more convenient. There is a similar computer on the same site with a 128 GB SSD + 750 GB HDD. It also has 16 GB DDR3 RAM instead of 12. But it's $300 more. I'm not sure I want to go that much higher than $2000.

The above listed laptop should be about $1500+...if it's a crazy brand like Alienware it's probably $6000 lol...Consider that the more crap you put into this thing, the less the battery will last and the hotter it will get dude! I like to keep coretemp on at all times to make sure it doesn't over heat (auto shut down around 100C). I don't see any reason to really go SUPER OVERBOARD here lol...that's a fricking KILLER laptop and would last you a good decade before it's out of date pretty much :P...The laptop I have (listed in my signature) is incredibly awesome on anything I play. I can run several programs at once without any decrease in performance, only a bit of lag when switching between the internet, other programs (itunes) and games. Just lag cuz the vid card is a bit of a bottle neck for this system, but once the program is up and you're in it, then you just have to watch temps. Make SURE you have a good cooling pad and that the computer doesn't have any problems with cooling in the first place ...and clean the shit out of that thing like once a week if possible...just buy stock in the compressed air you're buying cuz you'll need a lot lol

I have that cooling pad and it does fair, but it's impossible to find a really good one :P...consider that in the cost...also consider that it might be cheaper to just put in 16gb RAM yourself and sell the old stuff. I put in 16GB myself and sold my old ram for like $30 so it cost like nothing. An SSD would be really nice for a gaming computer but every time you install stuff or save stuff you have to choose where it's going and stuff, yeh you can set it to go where it's gonig but it's just a pain in my mind....If it has 2 HDD's then it's likely a 17'+ laptop which is LARGE and HEAVY and doesn't fit in many backpacks well!!!! There's many goods and bads about both style laptops (bigger, more stuff you can do or smaller and limited upgrades)...I decided to go with mine because it was the best thing I could get in my budget at the time ($1300 laptop I paid about $900, worth about $800 new today)...I absolutely wish I had gone with backlit keyboard cuz it's a SUPER awesome helpful thing to have :P and it's probably pretty cheap (was $25 for me and I passed up on it -.-)...but yeh there's my opinion lol

Thatnks for the opinions. I appreciate the input. That's a pretty cheap cooling pad, so thanks for the link too!
