major IE problem

Hi,

I think my laptop may be riddled with viruses - it hasn't been used for quite a while.

I am trying to connect it to my router wirelessly - i have another laptop that works fine this way.

THe card is installed fine and the network box shows it is connected to the router but IE cannot load anythign - keeps saying retry or work offline.

I tried an ethernet cable - recognised but no web - cannot even connect to the router homepage

last resort - tried dial up - connected and costed me money but still nothing on IE!

Cant get online to dowload any virus checking details so am a bit stuck!

Any ideas much appreciated!
