Mass Effect Crashing

Ive started playing the Mass Effect series, logically with the first. And the game keeps crashing. It starts up just fine, but after playing for a few miinutes, it just crahsed for no reason, and ideas?
 
Is it fully patched? Have you tried lowering the settings it plays at? Or res?

Are you fully upto date with DX, sound drivers, graphic drivers etc?
 
What OS are you running? I assume 7? Remember that the original was made when XP was the primary OS and you may need to run it in Windows XP compatibility mode.
 
I had issues with it but patching it to the latest software fixed it using Windows 7.

steam-mass effect-right click and go to properties-local files-verify integrity of game cache normally fixes steam shit

i should copy and paste this and just stick it on every thread with a steam game related issue cause it normally works :p

First thing I tried XD, and it crashes to desktop
 
Does the game have cloud storage? in which case just delete local content and reinstall. If not, youll have to find the save games and back them up. Usually in documents, but saying that steam is a bit of a bitch sometime in where it puts saved games.
