I am thinking about updating my processor in the next couple of months and was wondering what kind of memory needs to be used for a AMD 1.3 GHz processor. Thanks for the help.

The better indicator of what type of memory would be the motherboard you're going to be plugging it into: there are two major options, PC133 or DDR memory. What motherboard do you have? (Grab CPUz from http://www.cpuid.com and check the Mainboard tab for the name of the mobo)

Cheers.

Well here's the information page for your mobo: http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=210
And according to that, it only accepts the "old-style" memory, i.e., PC133 and PC100 (obviously, of the two, i'd get the PC133).

If you are considering upgrading the system, you are best off getting a completely new mobo too (since the newer CPUs will only thrive off newer boards). Of course, this means you'll have to get newer RAM too since the PC133 ram that you use on your current mobo is quite antiquated and virtually abandonded in favour of DDR memory). Depending on your budget, the ASUS A7V8X-X (~$75USD) or the ASUS A7N8X-X (~$100USD) are both excellent boards (ive used both and I like the the A7N8X-X a lot more) and a simple AthlonXP2500 (~$100USD) are very affordable upgrades. Throw in 512MB of PC2700 memory and you've pretty much give your tower a makoever for less than $300USD. Not a bad deal all things considering
